The Weekly Stitch

Hello there!

Good afternoon all!  Hope everyone is enjoying this hot weather - yet another great reason to get in some extra knitting/crochet time!

Here is what is going on with YOH this week:
  • Tuesday - 10 AM in the Multi Purpose Room at FBC McKinney. (NOTE ROOM CHANGE! This is the room with the wall of windows to the left of the weight room.)
  • Wednesday night - 6:15 PM in the Fireside Room at FBC McKinney.
Current Projects:
  • Chemo caps and scarves - for adults, kids and babies.  To be donated to Texas Oncology McKinney, Medical City Children's Hospital, and UT Southwestern Moncrief Center.
  • Blankets and knitted/crocheted toys - to be donated to Medical City Children's Hospital.
  • Bereavement Preemie Items:   Gowns, sweaters, hats, and blankets to be donated to Medical City Children's Hospital Labor & Delivery Department.  Items should be in pastel colors and sized for a 2 pound preemie.  Also, the nurses have requested 2 or 3 gowns or sweaters in a newborn size.  Let me know if you need help with patterns or sizing.
Take care and God bless!  Hope to see all of you soon!!

Preemie Clothes Needed!

Hey all,

Just wanted to pass along the following message to you.  I think I will postpone
my trip down there until the end of next week so maybe we will have a few more
things to take to them.

Forwarded message from Angela McNally, LDR nurse at MCCH:
Gina..would it be possible to obtain some more of the really small outfits in the white and pastel colors? Unfortunately we are using them up fast.

We appreciate any outfits that you can do for us. I really appreciate everything you do for us. The families love them in these outfits ...thanks Angie McNally

Thanks ladies!

Gina

Another trip to MCCH and a Special Request

All of you ladies have been so busy that our stash was overflowing with blankets and quilts, so I scheduled a visit to children's oncology unit at Medical Center Children's Hospital today. The Child Life Director was thrilled will all of the blankets, quilts, scarves, hats and toys that I delivered to her. She wants all of you to know that she, her staff, and all of the patients love our generosity and all of the things that we make for them. While we were visiting, she mentioned a need for "rice frogs". Now, I had no idea what a rice frog was but she explained it and sent me these links:  Rice Frog (1) and Rice Frog (2). Basically, they are fabric frogs made out of scraps then stuffed with long grain rice. The frogs can be placed in a microwave to warm then placed on the patient's aches and pains. She said that the kids all just love these frogs and they really help as well.

So, if anyone would like to help out by making some of these frogs, please just bring to one of our meetings or let me know.

God bless,
Gina
